During the 22nd and 23rd of November, the marketing and internationalization platform for Spanish animal genetics of the Royal Spanish Federation of Selective Livestock Associations (RFEAGAS), Livestock Genetics from Spain (LGFS), and the Spanish goat breeds Malagueña, Murciano-Granadina, and Florida, participated in Capr’Inov 2023, the International Goat Show in France. They had an informative stand where, guided by Regina Edo from the international department of RFEAGAS and representatives of the Breeders’ Associations for these breeds (Javier Fernández from CAPRIGRAN, Mª Dolores López from ACRIFLOR, and Carmen Lara from CABRAMA), interested parties could learn more about the Spanish goat sector and our native breeds.

Many visitors approached the stand during the days of the Fair, especially of French nationality. However, notable visits came from professionals from other countries such as the Netherlands, Lebanon, Chile, Germany, Malta, Hungary, and Italy.

Additionally, a cheese tasting led by Francisco de Asís from IFAPA took place, where attendees could taste three different types of cheese: one from Malagueña goats, another from Florida goats, and another from Murciano-Granadina goats, accompanied by wines from the region. This activity sparked the interest of attendees and had a large number of participants.

Likewise, a dinner for goat farmers and professionals in the goat sector from France, Belgium, and Spain was held on the night of the 22nd. As a prelude to the Fair, on the 21st, representatives of the Associations, RFEAGAS, and a group of farmers visited three farms in the Aquitaine region of France to get a closer look at the Saanen and Alpina breeds, typical of the region, concluding with a tasting of Saanen goat milk cheese, an tour organized by CAPRIGRAN, ACRIFLOR, and CABRAMA.

Events like these are crucial for the promotion of breeds and the opening of commercial channels and business opportunities. This is not the first time that Spanish selective goat farming has been represented at the Fair, having attended with high-quality specimens in previous editions, capturing the interest of a significant number of French professionals.
