The 5th Conference on Innovation and Valorization of Portuguese Native Breeds, organized by the Municipality of Fundão in collaboration with partners like the Directorate-General for Food and Veterinary, the Alpetratínia Team, the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco – Higher School of Agriculture of Castelo Branco, and Ovibeira, is scheduled for March 7th and 8th, 2024, in Orca.

This edition will feature the establishment of an animal space and engaging recreational activities tailored for students in the Fundão municipality, emphasizing local breeds. The overarching goal of this event is to extend the Municipality’s ongoing efforts in promoting and disseminating Native Breeds and their respective territories. The audience includes students, breeders, professionals in the field, and the general public.

An invitation is also extended to students and professionals to submit posters showcasing technical, scientific, and artistic works related to native breeds until February 20, 2024. Accepted submissions may include original works, clinical cases, case studies, and works on technologies applied to animal production. The selected posters will be displayed during the event on March 7th and 8th, providing authors the opportunity to interact with guests and participants, facilitating discussions, clarifying queries, and sharing experiences.

A notable feature of it is the attendance of Javier Fernandez, representing Caprigran. Javier will deliver a speech focusing on the Murciano-Granadina goat breed program. Given Portugal’s significant international interest in this breed, his insights promise to enrich the conference with valuable perspectives on advancements in Murciano-Granadina goat farming.
